Utility-only. Compared on common terms. Connected person to person. Trusted with what never gets published. That is the value of the room, and it is why the people who run the grid have kept coming back since 1885.
The people at the table run utilities and carry the same accountability, and that changes what people will say. You can admit something isn't working. Members span roughly 70 parent companies and 193 utilities: investor-owned, public power, and cooperatives of every size and region.
A number means nothing until you know the territory, the customer mix, and the regulatory frame. AEIC puts member data on common terms: same definitions, same units, same entity scope. Sometimes the finding is that the industry hasn't agreed on a definition yet, and that gap is worth knowing.
The meeting isn't the product. Who you can reach afterward is. When something breaks at 2 AM, you know who has already been through it, and you can pick up the phone.
Your challenge feels unique to your system. It usually isn't. Someone is two years ahead of you on it, and someone else is two years behind and could use what you learned. Listening outside your lane is how you see what's coming before it reaches you.
Members drive the questions. The Power Delivery Committee alone has fielded 16 member benchmarking requests since March 2025, from arc flash and fleet cameras to FR uniforms, business continuity, and 911 portals. One person asks, the network answers, everyone gets the result. There's a decision on the other end of every one.
What failed, what it really cost, what the regulator pushed back on, what you'd do differently. None of that makes a paper or a filing. It's shared here, peer to peer, and it stays in the room. When a topic is sensitive, members answer through an anonymous route.
Complex systems don't run on documentation alone. They run on trust between the people who operate them. That is how AEIC started in 1885: station operators comparing notes.
The grid is becoming more distributed and interdependent. No one utility or expert runs it alone. AEIC is where leaders practice collaboration as part of the job: answering a survey, hosting a meeting, stepping into a committee seat.
Research bodies publish. Trade associations advocate. Solution providers innovate. AEIC is where utility operators compare notes candidly, and it works alongside all three. Knowledge of one is the knowledge of all.
One membership covers your whole organization. Tell us about your utility and we will walk you through how your people plug in.
