This guide covers the design variables that should be considered when specifying reduced diameter extruded dielectric shielded power cables rated 5 through 35 kV. In addition to design variables, this guide includes precautions that should be considered if reduced diameter cables are going to be utilized, including the effect of reduced diameters on cable accessories. It is imperative that both cable and cable accessory manufacturers be consulted whenever a reduced diameter cable is being considered as a substitute for cable designed to industry standard.
