This specification applies to high-pressure pipe-type impregnated paper-insulated and laminated paper polypropylene insulated cables for use in the transmission of electrical energy. It describes the various choices that an engineer must consider when specifying paper-insulated cables designed for operation under either liquid or gas pressure for utility use. In addition, both types of cables are intended for operation at a nominal pressure of 200 psig (1400 kPa).
The purpose of this specification is to insure the furnishing of high quality cable and as a supplement, address some of the basic quality requirements for the pipe and pipe coating materials. Guide for the installation of pipes are addressed in AEIC GC3.
