Utilities Continue to Lead the Energy Transition
In 2019, New York State passed the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act, setting the most ambitious and aggressive clean energy mandates in the country. It set decarbonization mandates to seventy percent renewable electricity by 2030 and one hundred percent zero-emission electricity by 2040. In the six years since it became law, political and economic realities have significantly changed, and all New York utilities are navigating the delicate balance between three priorities: reliability, affordability, and decarbonization.
At Central Hudson Gas & Electric, we are committed to responsibly managing these interconnected challenges for our more than three hundred fifteen thousand electric and ninety thousand natural gas customers in the Mid-Hudson River Valley. Like the three legs of a stool, affordability, reliability and decarbonization must each be supported to maintain a stable and forward-looking energy system. At Central Hudson, we’re especially focused on affordability for our customers who are feeling the brunt of the rising cost of living.
Our strategy is grounded in pragmatism, a deep understanding of the complexities involved in meeting all stakeholder needs, and a steadfast commitment to continued progress.
