AEIC was founded in 1885 for a reason that has not changed. The founding minutes recorded that most station failures came from the want of knowledge on the part of management, not from defects in the systems.

Every committee, every meeting, every publication since has been built to make the knowledge of one the knowledge of every member.

Sixteen rooms, one mission.

AEIC’s committees and subcommittees are where utility operations leaders from across the country come together to solve the problems every utility faces. The pins on the map are member-hosted meeting sites — the places our chairs, vice chairs, and committee members gather twice a year in person and stay connected virtually in between.

Eight committees lead the work: Cable Engineering · Customer Service · Electric Power Apparatus · Load Research & Analytics · Meter & Service · Power Delivery · Power Generation · Workforce Development.

Eight subcommittees under Power Delivery extend it: Distribution System Operations · Grid as a Platform · Project Management · Safety Benchmarking · Storm Team · Telecommunications · Transmission System Operations · Vegetation Management.

Each committee is chaired by a member-utility leader. Each meeting is hosted at a member utility. Each finding is shared with every member.

Member companies send their best people to
work on AEIC’s committees.
